You Need a Tune Up at Your Ford Dealership

1. Stalling

If your vehicle is stalling at intersections, when merging onto the highway, or whenever you try to accelerate, this could be a warning sign that something is wrong with the engine. Fouled spark plugs or clogged fuel filters can prevent your engine from delivering the power your Ford needs to accelerate properly. A simple tune-up can rule out these issues and check for other problems within the vehicle that lead to stalling.

2. Warning Lights

Your Ford’s driver information center is there to keep you fully informed on all of your vehicle’s insights, including any issues that could be going on within the engine. Sometimes the only indication of engine trouble is a warning light on this display. Always pay attention to flashing indicator lights and symbols and take your Ford in for an inspection right away to have any issues diagnosed.

3. Strange Noises

Unusual or excessive noises coming from your Ford’s engine are not normal and should be investigated by a technician. If your Ford has a worn-out serpentine belt, you may hear squealing noises. A tapping or clicking sound usually indicates low oil in the engine, while a grinding noise can indicate a worn-down bearing.

4. Low Fuel Mileage

Are you filling your gas tank more and more often without explanation? It could be that your engine is operating as efficiently as it could due to clogged fuel filters, faulty oxygen sensors, or an old air filter. Our service technicians can check each of these components, providing proper cleaning and replacement wherever needed.

5. Rough Shifting

Your Ford should be able to shift seamlessly and reliably, so rough shifting always calls for a service appointment. This is often a transmission issue, but it could also stem from damaged gears or a worn clutch.

6. Engine Misfiring

Frequent misfiring is a major sign that something has gone wrong with your engine. Bad spark plugs, oily coils, bad ignition coils, water in the fuel lines, or a bad PVC valve can all cause your engine to misfire.

7. Fuel Smell

A strong fuel smell coming from your vents should always be taken seriously, as it could mean severe engine damage. This odor can come from a fuel leak around the fuel rail, pressure regulator, or fuel line, all of which cause surface damage to your Ford’s engine.
